We would like to expand the
garden program at the Early Childhood Center that serves
all of our kindergarten students and six first grade
classes. The project will include laying out
and creating garden beds and paths and building a
decorative bridge or two.
Plant an apple orchard in back of
the school. The project includes building a fence
around the area to protect the trees from deer.
International
garden benches along the nature trail and throughout the
gardens. Our schools are attended by children from more
than 20 nations. We would like to have a bench with a garden saying
in the languages of each of their home countries.
Build and install a series of informational and educational signs along
the nature trail, i.e. identifying the papa grove and some of it's
folklore. These signs will facilitate self-guided tours
and support the lesson plans used by the classes.
We
have an open storage area tucked in a space between two buildings.
It is out of the way and a great place for storing out larger items, i.e.
wheelbarrows, wagons, and tools. We the smaller shovels and garden
trowels in plastic trash cans to protect them from the weather but do not
have dry storage for the larger shovels, garden forks and other items.
We need storage cabinets build in the corral.
Stage 1 of phase 2 of our nature trail.
We have a couple of acres behind the elementary school that we have identified as an area we want to develop as phase
two of the nature trail. Eventually, we hope to make this section
of the trail handicapped accessible. This part of the trail will be done
in stages. Below is list of some of the possible Eagle Scout projects
associated with this area.
Build a bridge to provide easy access to the area
Mark the lay out of the trail, clear where necessary,
line with fallen trees, lay down mulch.
Build and install benches and informational trail
markers.
