Flower for Teacher August 23, 3:30-5:30                                                               Volunteer

“Some people worry that artificial intelligence will make us feel inferior, but then, anybody in his right mind should have an inferiority complex every time he looks at a flower.” Alan C. Kay

The day before school starts, Loveland's first-fourth grade students come to school to learn where their rooms are located and meet their new teachers. Early that morning volunteers pick nearly 2,000 sun flowers that sprouted from seeds students planted on Earth Day.

We invite community leaders to join us in carrying on this tradition that is unique to Loveland. When the children arrive later in the day we are waiting outside of the schools with flowers in hand.  Each child is given a flower to give to his teacher.  We pick extras so we can share with siblings as well.

The flowers are symbolic of the students coming together to form a new class as each of their individual flowers come together to form the class bouquet.

"Don't judge each day by the harvest you reap, but by the seeds you plant."  Robert Louis Stevenson
