Granny's Backyard Workshops

Registration

Granny's backyard is an extension of the school garden program.  It is small and used for many activities.  It is definitely a place where a lot of living takes place. This year, she is giving up space to install two class gardens that will replicate what the students are growing.  This will make it easier to monitor the progress of the gardens, to evaluate the different varieties and how well they perform in the class gardens.

Preparing and Planting a Backyard Garden

Start a Garden's-Worth of Seeds in a Pot

During the first workshop on Saturday, March 16, 10 a.m. to noon  -  participants will help to install and plant two new gardens.  The registration fee includes a raspberry bush, elephant's ear bulb and ten 5-gallon buckets of compost for your garden.   Long before she started the school garden program, Granny was starting seeds outdoors in the early spring by creating simple, small green houses from plastic and tubs filled with soil. During this workshop on  Saturday, April 6th, 9-11 a.m. participants will learn how easy it is to start plants from seed without a greenhouse or grow lights. The registration fee covers flower & seeds, large pot & soil - $20 per person.
