Nancy Garfinkel
has been with Granny's Garden School since the program
began. She has and continues to serve in many
capacities, i.e. class garden coordinator, fundraising,
general garden helper and a member of the board of
directors.
We welcome students,
adults, senior
citizens and retired individuals. We offer volunteer opportunities to
accommodate a wide range of skills and physical abilities.
These are a few of the many people who help
to make Granny's Garden School the unique program it is.
We hope you will find a spot that fits and
you will join us in our mission to teach children through garden
based learning.
Cecilia
Diaz Beneke
started volunteering with us in 2005 as a class
garden helper in her daughter's classroom.
She is now the team leader at the Early
Childhood Center.
Trish
Hoge has volunteered with us since 2002.
She has and continues to serve in many
capacities. Formerly the team leader at the
Early Childhood and a board member she now
coordinates for her child's classroom and helps
with fundraisers as in this photo.
Janet

fundraising team.
Janet joined the garden program in 2004 and quickly
became a key volunteer. She is a member of
our board of directors.
These are a few of the many people who help
to make Granny's Garden School the unique program it is.
We hope you will find a spot that fits and
you will join us in our mission to teach children through garden
based learning.
Katy
Laageis a Social Guide
with LADD.
Kate came to the gardens with Lizzie as members
of the Pick-a-Bouquet-Club then volunteered to
pick bouquets to take to local businesses each
week. We need more volunteers to pick and
deliver bouquets to share with community.
Steve Chung first came to
the gardens as a community service volunteer when he was a student in
the Landscape Horticulture degree program
at Cincinnati State. He liked working in
our garden so much that he continued volunteering past his required
hours.
Phyllis
Youmons began volunteering with us in exchange
for compost for her gardens. She teamed up
with Pat Benton who already volunteers twice
a week and they work on various projects
depending on what needs to be done in a given
week.
Peggy
French is a retired school teacher. She started
volunteering with the program as a
garden coordinator and
is now a nature trail guide as well.
We have a 1/2 mile nature
trail in about six acres of woods in back of the schools.
It has been the site for three Eagle Scout projects. There are
bridges, bird blinds and a nice collection of trees. We are seeking
more volunteer trail guides.
Stephanie
Gebele started as a general garden volunteer in the spring of
2007. The second time she came she brought her mother,
Janet Grace, and the two have been regular Tuesday afternoon
volunteers every since. In the summer they were joined by
Stephanie's daughter, Erika. They have worked on a variety of
activities in and out of the gardens.
Brownie
and Girl Scout Troops frequently use the gardens in their
ceremonies and do community service projects there.
Projects have included planting bulbs, trees and flowers,
mulching and composting. One group even built a learning
center.
Phyllis
Carroll first came to the gardens to photograph the flowers in
2005. Since then she has spent many hours working in the
gardens with Granny and helping with special events. She
creates note cards featuring photos taken in the gardens and
donates them to the program. We use them to thank our
supporters.
