Volunteer - Team Building

We can customize the experience to meet your needs.  Your group can work on a project or projects designated by Granny's Garden School. These usually include such things as laying down wood chips on the paths or compost in the gardens, edging around the gardens, servicing tools, small building or painting projects, planting seeds, weeding, harvesting produce for the food pantry, etc.

You have the option of showing up that day and Granny or one of her staff will serve as the project manager.  Or, you can designate one or more members of your group to meet with Granny ahead of time, get the details of the project and take it from there.

Some of the groups that have volunteered in the past.

Moeller Faculty Day
Lyondell Chemical Company
Proctor & Gamble
Ethicon

You also have the option of selecting a project from our list, identifying potential challenges then identifying and securing resources for meeting those challenges.

Project List

  • Map the gardens.  Our gardens and nature trail are spread out over the 24 acre campus. We want to map all of the garden areas with an overview of the area.  From there, we want to create an interactive map with clickable links to photos and more detailed maps of each section.

  • Build shelving and enclosed storage cabinets for storing tools, wheel barrels and other supplies.

  • Design and build an inconspicuous storage unit for the gardens on the primary playground and in the back courtyard.

"Don't judge each day by the harvest you reap, but by the seeds you plant."  Robert Louis Stevenson
