Connecting children

with nature

Students at Archbishop Moeller High School become involve in service learning.

In 2007 Moeller students became part of a growing trend in education to link student learning opportunities with community service.  It s known as service learning.  It is different from just doing community service in that each project must relate to what the students are learning in the classroom.  In this situation three students (Alex Schneider, Marc Ketcha and Mark Shipp) worked on a single project to build planter benches for the school garden program.  The work was done as part of their technical drawing class under the supervision of their instructor, Bob Koklmeyer.

Alex Schneider puts he finishing touches on the bench.

CAD (technical drawing) instructor Bob Kolkmeyer made the project possible
