Phenomenal is just one of the many descriptors that
can be applied to the impact of Granny’s Garden
School on our children, staff, and community. This
unique program has been an uplifting experience for
our total school community and has the full support
of the Board of Education, school staff, and me. Its
benefits are incalculable.

Boys, Ed.D, former Superintendent Loveland City

We commend the Loveland school board,
superintendent and principals for creating
an environment where an organization such as
Granny's Garden School could evolve.
Their willingness to expand educational
opportunities outside of the four walls of
the traditional classroom make it possible
to offer a unique learning opportunity to
their students. |

Harvest
Lunch
is October 1. Beginning the week of September
20th, during their regular garden time,
students harvest produce from their gardens for the
Harvest Lunch and for the Harvest Celebration the
following week. The lunch ladies use the fresh
vegetables to create a communal soup that is served
to students, staff and volunteers free of charge.
That’s
just the beginning of the story. This takes place at
Loveland Early Childhood Center, Loveland Primary
School and Loveland Elementary School where all of
the tables will be covered with table cloths and
decorated with bouquets of flowers. While eating
lunch, students will listen to classical music and
watch a slide show of photos of classes in the
gardens.
As you may imagine, it takes a lot of behind the
scenes support to pull this off.
